S I N O P S I S

Seorang pencuri tertembak mati di sebuah lorong sementara di saat yang sama seorang wanita yang ternyata adalah asisten Senator Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck) meninggal akibat terjatuh dan terlindas kereta api. Dua kejadian yang seolah tak berhubungan ini ternyata punya kaitan yang kuat di mata seorang jurnalis bernama Cal McAffrey (Russell Crowe).

Cal semula adalah manajer kampanye Senator Stephen namun malah berakhir sebagai seorang jurnalis. Dengan bantuan Della Frye (Rachel McAdams) yang berambisi, Cal kemudian mulai mengumpulkan fakta-fakta yang seolah memang tak berhubungan dengan dua kematian tragis itu. Cal menduga ada sebuah persekongkolan di balik dua kematian yang seolah tak terkait ini.

Pelan tapi pasti, Cal dan Della mulai berhasil mengumpulkan fakta dan mulai tampak gambaran dari skenario di balik konspirasi ini. Semakin dekat Cal pada kebenaran, semakin ragu Cal untuk melanjutkan. Ia tahu apa yang akan ia ungkap bisa menggoyahkan pilar kepemimpinan negara dan tak mustahil jiwanya akan terancam bila investigasi itu ia lanjutkan.

Following the French atomic bomb tests in the South Pacific, an unknown creature is spotted passing eastward through the Panama Canal.
